What is Newtopia Kdrama About?
It seems that the plot is going to be very interesting, as the genre is romantic fantasy and zombie comedy. It is based on Influenza by Han Sang Woon and written by Han Jin Won and Ji Ho Jin.
Newtopia focuses on Lee Jae Yoon and Kang Young Joo. Lee Jae Yoon is a soldier who is usually anxious about his future due to joining the military late as compared to the people of his age. Lee Jae Yoon and Kang Young Joo are in a relationship, and Young Joo is known for her beauty and appearance. She leads a different life as she works as a fresher employee at a company.
Things take a sudden change when a virus breaks out and people get affected. When people get infected, they turn into zombies. Now, Lee Jae Yoon and Kang Young Joo must protect each other and survive in the deadly situation.

Coupang Play and Prime Video released the first official trailer for Newtopia on January 6, 2025. The trailer kicks off with Jisoo’s voice on the phone as her character, Kang Youngjoo, breaks up with Park Jeongmin’s Lee Jaeyoon, who’s in his Republic of Korea Army tracksuit. “The day we broke up, the world came crashing down,” letters on the screen then read as flashes of the zombie outbreak take over the trailer set to a remix of Mozart’s “Piano Sonata No. 11.”
“Are you going AWOL to look for your girlfriend?” a fellow ROKA soldier asks Jaeyoon as the two move heaven and earth to reunite in zombie-filled Seoul.
